South OC Flow Ecology Special Study In-Person Workshop - January 8, 2020, 1PM at SCCWRP

In-stream flow ecology special study

OC Public Works, on behalf of the municipalities of South Orange County Watershed Management Area (South OC WMA), has initiating the Flow Ecology Special Study as identified in the Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP).

The Flow Ecology Special Study aims to develop ecologically-based tools and datasets to inform decisions regarding flow management activities for water bodies across the South OC WMA.

The identification and elimination of nuisance dry weather flows and rehabilitation of 23,000 linear feet of degraded stream habitat are key implementation strategies of the WQIP. Determining environmental flow needs is a critical first step to this plan and will shed light on how to manage water to promote streamflow enhancement and environmental restoration while balancing the needs of the communities of South Orange County.

This workshop is for interested stakeholders to learn more and participate in the process.

Stakeholder Process:

The Flow Ecology Special Study In-Person Workshop will be a joint meeting of the Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) and the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to help increase efficiency of the communication process and reduce the total number of meetings some individuals would have to attend. This workshop will provide the SAG and TAG an update on the study progress and address action items identified in previous meetings.

Thank you to those who participated in our previous stakeholder meetings. As a reminder, presentation materials from previous meetings can be found online at the Flow Ecology Study’s Website here.
